Pulsed Electromagnetic Fields
Papimi PEMF Therapy
A high-intensity pulsed electromagnetic field (PEMF) device that delivers short, powerful electromagnetic pulses to promote cellular repair, reduce inflammation, and relieve pain.
What Is Papimi?
Papimi is a medical PEMF device that generates extremely short (nanosecond), high-intensity electromagnetic pulses. Unlike conventional PEMF devices that operate at low intensities, the Papimi produces peak magnetic field strengths of up to 3 Tesla in very brief bursts. This unique pulse profile allows deep tissue penetration without thermal effects.
At St. George Hospital, Papimi therapy is used as a supportive treatment for pain, inflammation, and tissue repair within comprehensive treatment programs.

How Does It Work?
The intense electromagnetic pulses induce brief electrical fields within body tissues. These fields are thought to influence cell membrane potential, ion channel activity, and intracellular signaling pathways. The therapeutic effects include enhanced cellular energy production (ATP), reduced inflammatory mediator release, improved microcirculation, and modulation of pain-transmitting nerve fibers.
The nanosecond pulse duration means that the total energy delivered is very low despite the high peak intensity, making the treatment non-thermal and well tolerated. The electromagnetic field penetrates deeply into tissue, reaching bones, joints, and organs that are inaccessible to many surface-level therapies.
Conditions Treated
- Chronic pain conditions
- Post-surgical pain and swelling
- Musculoskeletal inflammation
- Non-healing fractures
- Soft tissue injuries
- Neuropathic pain
Could this belong in your plan?
That depends on your findings, not on the therapy. Send what you have with a short history; a physician reads it before the video call and tells you whether this treatment belongs in your program.
What a session feels like
- Before The coil is positioned over or around the affected part of your body. No preparation.
- During 15–30 minutes. You feel a gentle tapping or pulsing, not pain.
- Afterwards Nothing to recover from; sessions can be daily during a stay, and the effect is assessed over the course rather than after one session.
Evidence & Safety
Papimi has been used in European integrative medicine for over two decades. Published case reports and clinical observations support its efficacy for pain and inflammation. As a medical PEMF device, it builds on the broader evidence base for electromagnetic field therapy, which includes studies published in journals such as Bioelectromagnetics and the Journal of Orthopedic Research. Contraindications include cardiac pacemakers, pregnancy over the treatment area, and electronic implants.
