Autologous Rejuvenation
PRP Aesthetics
Platelet-rich plasma treatments that harness the patient’s own concentrated growth factors for skin rejuvenation, texture improvement, and hair restoration.
How Does It Work?
PRP (platelet-rich plasma) aesthetic treatments use the patient’s own blood, processed to concentrate platelets and their growth factors, which are then injected into the skin or scalp. The growth factors stimulate collagen production, accelerate cellular turnover, and improve tissue quality from within.
Because PRP is derived from the patient’s own blood, there is virtually no risk of allergic reaction or immune rejection. This autologous approach makes PRP one of the most biocompatible aesthetic treatments available. At St. George Hospital, PRP is prepared using medical-grade centrifugation systems to ensure consistent platelet concentration.

How Does It Work?
A small blood sample (15-30 mL) is drawn and centrifuged to separate the platelet-rich layer. This concentrated PRP contains growth factors including PDGF, TGF-beta, VEGF, and EGF at 3-8 times their normal blood concentration. When injected into the skin, these factors activate fibroblasts, stimulate neoangiogenesis, and promote collagen and elastin synthesis.
For hair restoration, PRP is injected into the scalp at the level of the hair follicle. The growth factors stimulate dormant follicles, extend the growth phase (anagen) of the hair cycle, and improve blood supply to the follicular unit. This can slow hair thinning and promote regrowth in early to moderate androgenetic alopecia.

Is This Therapy Right for You?
Our physicians will evaluate whether this treatment is appropriate for your condition after a thorough assessment.
What Does a Session Look Like?
Blood is drawn, processed in a centrifuge for 10-15 minutes, and the PRP is injected using fine needles or combined with microneedling. The procedure takes 45-60 minutes in total. Mild redness, swelling, and bruising at injection sites are normal and resolve within 1-3 days. Results develop gradually over 4-6 weeks as collagen remodeling occurs. A series of 3 treatments spaced 4 weeks apart is typical, with maintenance sessions every 6-12 months.
Evidence & Safety
PRP for aesthetic applications has a growing evidence base. Studies published in the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology, Dermatologic Surgery, and the International Journal of Trichology demonstrate improvements in skin texture, wrinkle reduction, and hair density. As an autologous preparation, PRP has an excellent safety profile. The main risks are injection-site reactions (bruising, swelling) that resolve spontaneously.
