For over four decades, St. George Hospital has been a leading center for integrative medicine in Europe, combining conventional medical science with evidence-based complementary therapies.
St. George Hospital was founded in 1991 by the late Friedrich Douwes M.D. (1945–2022) in Bad Aibling, Bavaria, with a clear vision: to bring together the best of conventional medicine and scientifically grounded complementary therapies under one roof.
What began as a small clinic with a focus on oncology and biological medicine has grown into one of Germany’s most recognized centers for integrative medical care. Over the decades, the hospital has treated tens of thousands of patients from more than 60 countries, establishing itself as a destination for those seeking comprehensive, individualized treatment.
Today, under the leadership of Julian Douwes M.D. (Chief Medical Officer) and Martin Rößner M.D. (Chief Physician), the hospital continues to evolve. Julian Douwes M.D. develops all new treatment protocols, bringing expertise in functional medicine, chronic disease, rare diseases, longevity, and neuromodulation. Martin Rößner M.D. leads the hospital’s oncology and daily clinical operations. The founding principle that complex chronic diseases require more than a single-modality approach continues to guide every aspect of patient care.
To deliver integrative medical care that combines the precision of modern diagnostics with the depth of biological and complementary medicine, always placing the patient at the center of every decision.
To be the leading integrative medical center in Europe, recognized for clinical excellence, published research, and measurable patient outcomes in complex chronic and oncological diseases.
Compassion, scientific integrity, transparency, and a commitment to continuous improvement guide everything we do. We treat every patient as an individual, not a diagnosis.
